The CENTRALITY of the PATIENT, with the fundamental principle of CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, is the hinge around which the project has been weaved: purpose of the project is, therefore, the attainment of the MAXIMUM SATISFACTION and the IMPROVEMENT of the CITIZEN’s QUALITY of LIFE.

In particular, the Project intends to realize the following objective:

Experimental system and coding of methods, processes, actors, professional profiles and instruments on which the Knowledge Management and Communication Department (DKMC) is based.

In particular, the Knowledge Management and Communication Department is meant like:

• Catalyst of a Healthcare System that, both at a local and at a central level, is able to dynamically evolve around the citizens’ choices (Patient Orientation);

• Promoter of a Healthcare System oriented towards results rather than towards  processes;

• Experimenter and promoter of the connection methods and instruments (Internet, wireless, UMTS...) between services and customers, and among those operating in the services;

• Health innovation instrument, as factor of knowledge capitalization that derives from the services and from the public, in order to undertake strategies and operating programmes;

• Promoter of the use of cognitive resources available in network and of the constitution of new knowledge necessary for the improvement of services and for the formulation of strategies both at a local and at a central level.

The re-orientation of the Healthcare System’s structure towards customer-driven models will take place through:

• The creation of a Project Committee formed by the Scientific Coordinator of the Project, the Scientific Responsible of the Operative Units, the Regional Responsible;

• The analysis of methodological approaches regarding the relationship among Communication, KM and customer-driven processes of change in the healthcare system;

• The planning of the DKMC in pilot sites;

• The professional training of those operating in the DKMC;

• The setting up and the experimental start of the DKMC;

• The management and the monitoring of those services activated by the DKMC;

• The implementation of inner and outer communication modalities for the experimental sites detected in the project;

• The activation of an Experts Panel for the intermediate and final assessment of activated processes based on the healthcare system organization.

Drawing up of a METHODOLOGICAL HANDBOOK (processes and strategies activated for the realization of the Department) that allows the transferability and the spreading of the project to other regional and non regional realities.
